The Print Production Checklist Every Designer Should Use

Great print starts long before the press runs. Use this checklist on every job to avoid costly reprints.

Files

  • CMYK color space, embedded ICC profile
  • 3mm bleed on every edge, safe zone 5mm inside trim
  • Fonts outlined or embedded
  • Images 300dpi at final size

Press-ready

  • Total ink coverage under 300%
  • Black text set to 100K, not rich black
  • Overprint preview checked

Finishing

Spot UV, foil, and emboss should be supplied on separate spot-color layers so the finisher can pull plates cleanly.
